Johnson County 4‑H showcases youth agriculture projects to the quorum court

County extension staff and youth presented a Johnson County 4‑H update to the quorum court, highlighting program offerings, community outreach and recent youth projects.
Jesse Taylor, county extension agent, introduced the 4‑H materials and said the office updated reporting and distributed brochures describing local projects. 4‑H agent Genie Gorbalt said 4‑H offers a range of projects from cattle to fine arts, described after‑school art classes and a planned beef tour, and invited members and the public to visit project sites.
Youth participants Tate Sisk and Archer Sands described their food‑plot projects, which included measuring plots, collecting soil samples, applying triple‑13 fertilizer and using Eagle brand seed donated by Eagle Seed Company. The students showed short videos documenting their process from measuring and disking to camera monitoring of wildlife using the plots. Extension staff and students thanked county extension colleagues and local partners for support and encouraged residents to submit soil samples to the extension office for testing.
The court received the presentation and members expressed appreciation for the educational programs and youth engagement across the county.
