Horsham honors pharmacist Tom Fredman; successor introduced

The Horsham Township Council on Monday honored Tom Fredman, owner of Horsham Square Pharmacy, for nearly four decades of service and presented a proclamation recognizing his community contributions.
The council read a proclamation noting Fredman’s 37–38 years operating the locally owned pharmacy, more than $150,000 in donations to schools and community groups over the years, multiple local awards and national recognition. The proclamation was read aloud during the meeting; the chair said a missing signature would be provided later.
In remarks to the council, Fredman reflected on his time at the pharmacy and described it as a family and community endeavor. “Every ending is merely the start of something else,” he said, echoing a line from his posted retirement letter. He described keeping the pharmacy’s patient‑centered philosophy and said he had chosen a successor, pharmacist Manan Patel, and asked the community to welcome him.
Council members praised Fredman for anecdotes that included staying late to provide medicine for families and organizing vaccination clinics during the COVID‑19 pandemic. Fredman said he and his wife, Judy, will remain involved at the pharmacy to support the transition and continue some services, including vaccination clinics and hearing‑aid support.
The meeting included applause and a brief photo opportunity. Fredman thanked township leaders and staff for the recognition and for community support over his career.
