The Orland Park Plan Commission on June 2 approved a plat to subdivide a parcel at 8801 West 143rd Street, moving the proposal to the village board for final action.
A staff member presented the staff report dated May 28, 2026, saying the parcel is in the Biz (general business) zoning district and that the proposed subdivision meets the minimum requirements of the zoning district. Staff recommended the commission approve case 2026-0503, subject to the final plat being printed on mylar and submitted to the village with all non-village signatures ready for recording at the Cook County Recorder of Deeds office.
Vice Chair Schustler moved to approve staff-recommended action for the 8801 West 143rd Street Plat of Subdivision; Commissioner Paul seconded. A roll-call vote of commissioners present carried the motion with those present voting in favor. Commissioner Satire was absent. The approval authorizes the parcel split as described in the staff report; final recording is contingent on the requested mylar and signatures.
Commissioners offered brief comment before the vote, calling the petition “straightforward.” Commissioner Fenton added he hopes the building meets health standards and said the project will be beneficial to residents at the northeast end of town. No members of the public spoke in opposition during the hearing.
Chairman Paresi and other commissioners noted the subdivision is an early procedural step in a larger process. Paresi said the village is purchasing part of the property from a banquet hall, that trustees plan to hold meetings with nearby residents about desired uses, and that the village board will take final action on any development plans presented to it.
The plan commission closed the public hearing and adjourned the meeting at 7:08 p.m.
