The Waterloo City Council approved a series of special-event and solicitation permits during the May 18 meeting.
Council approved a special-event permit for Coffee Girl Incorporated's first-year anniversary celebration scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., including closure of Main Street from Overbrow Lane South. Council expressed support and the motion passed on roll call.
The council also approved Two Street Church's annual back-to-school "pack to school" bash on Aug. 1, 2026 (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.), authorizing closure of Third Street between Market and Million. Finally, the council authorized solicitation by the Knights of Columbus for its 2026 intellectual-disability fund drive at the intersections of Mill, Rogers and Locker on Sept. 18-19, 2026. All three items were approved by roll call.
