Maple Shade police report drug seizure and update on high-profile murder probe

At the Dec. 11 Maple Shade Township Council meeting, Police Chief Simon summarized recent public-safety activity and ongoing investigations. He announced that in a coordinated operation this morning in the 400 block of North Fork Lane the Maple Shade Police Department, DEA, and New Jersey State Police executed legal process at a residence and seized an amount of methamphetamine, pills, drug paraphernalia and a firearm; four adults were charged and the investigation continues. Chief Simon commended K9 Officer Anthony Marshall and Detective Justin Jericho for their roles in the operation.
Separately, the chief discussed a high-profile murder investigation and said authorities have applied sustained intergovernmental pressure. "Nazir Hamid was finally placed on the FBI's most wanted list in conjunction with the offering of $50,000 award," he said, and described federal and diplomatic coordination in efforts to return a suspect for trial. The chief described outreach involving the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and state and federal partners; he said those efforts are ongoing.
What happens next: The chief said the investigation into the drug seizure remains active and that additional case work and coordination with federal partners continue. Council did not take public action on investigative matters during the meeting.
