EAC moves to add two junior members and sets roadside cleanup for April 25

The McCandless Environmental Advisory Committee agreed at its Sept. 10 meeting to move forward with adding two student junior members for the coming school year and tentatively set the annual roadside cleanup for April 25 with a May 2 backup date.
Committee members reported interviews of three student candidates and said two candidates were recommended to join the EAC in a junior capacity; the appointments must be routed to town council for formal approval before they are publicly named. Members said the students bring diverse school affiliations and outreach skills.
On scheduling, the group reviewed spring calendar conflicts (Easter, opening day of trout season, prom, standardized tests) and chose April 25 as the preferred roadside-cleanup weekend. Members discussed contingency planning for weather and school calendars and noted May 2 as a backup.
