Budget committee approves amended Rescue Squad appropriation and ambulance capital payments

Chairperson Rebecca Reed opened the Rescue Squad discussion by reading Article 19, which initially requested $839,550. Dwayne Morin, listed among those present, said he reviewed the Rescue budget and recommended reducing utility estimates. Committee member Gregg Drew moved to amend the Rescue Squad appropriation to $834,050; Julie Fernee seconded the motion. The amendment carried 11-0.
Reed then read Article 20, a $39,640 capital-improvement payment for the ambulance. Committee members noted that amount represents the second payment of a 10-year bond for the vehicle. Gregg Drew moved to pass Article 20 and Mark Rouillard seconded; the motion passed 11-0.
The committee also considered Article 21, an $80,000 appropriation from the Undesignated Fund Balance for an ambulance heart monitor. The motion to approve (moved by Gregg Drew and seconded by Vice Chairperson Kelly Rouillard) passed 11-0.
Actions taken were procedural appropriations recorded by motion and recorded votes; no public input was offered on these items. The committee advanced the rescue and ambulance appropriations to the next steps in the town budget process.
