Reagan Rudig was elected chair of the Portsmouth Historic District Commission and Margaret Doring was chosen as vice chair at the commission’s Jan. 7, 2026 meeting.
The panel moved the vote to the beginning of the agenda to expedite business after initial procedural announcements. Commissioners nominated Rudig and Doring, and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Rudig thanked the commission after the vote, saying she appreciated “the honor of being able to lead this commission” and that she looked forward to working with Doring. Commissioners did not identify any conflicts of interest at the start of the meeting. The commission then proceeded to administrative business and scheduled project hearings for the remainder of the session.
The election was procedural and does not change the commission’s authority over design reviews, hearings, or approval conditions. Next scheduled meetings will follow the normal posting and public-notice procedures.
