Residents press Alsip trustees over messy construction site, nuisance properties

"You got tires in there. You got wood chips mixed in with dirt and stuff," the resident said, adding the condition was "not right" and urging immediate enforcement. Trustees and staff said the developer is awaiting permits that should be issued that week and asked contractor and builder representatives to clean up the site while awaiting work.
Other speakers reported cars parking on a fire hydrant and blocking pathways on 115th Place; the mayor asked the resident to leave contact information and arranged for the police department to follow up. Trustees also noted nuisance houses on Avon Street and requested staff (Roger) to continue making inquiries and issuing notices where property owners could be contacted.
Trustees said they would press for compliance: staff will contact property owners and the builder, enforce notices, and follow up on permit status. The board did not take formal enforcement action at the meeting; residents were told staff would pursue cleanup and potential citations if problems persist.
