Alsip board refers $55,000 bid for village property to committee; bidder to appear next week

Clerk Hardy reported the bid amount and Mayor John Ryan said the board could not take formal action tonight but would refer the submission to the committee. "The bid amount from New Street Properties LLC is $55,000," the clerk said during the meeting. The mayor added he had mistakenly believed a prior deadline had passed and asked the board only to note receipt tonight.
Jeremy Merrick, who identified himself as president of Street Properties and said his firm submitted the bid, introduced his experience rehabbing local buildings and asked for time to answer questions and provide documentation. "I did meet with Roger on Friday... I have experience rehabbing... and I'd be happy to answer any questions," Merrick said. Trustees asked Merrick to appear at the Village Properties committee meeting next Monday at 7:30 p.m. to present a full package of documents and to discuss a proposed construction timeline.
Trustees asked staff to include conditions in any future sale process to ensure timely redevelopment. Mayor John Ryan said the village typically asks for a construction commencement schedule and suggested a 90-day start requirement would be included in discussions. No vote on the sale occurred; referral to committee is procedural and no contract was approved.
Next steps: the Village Properties committee will review the bid and hear Merrick’s presentation at the next meeting, after which the board may take formal action.
