Supervisors hear updates on public-health agreement, EMS staffing and storm recovery

Kevin Green, director of the SW District Health Department, told supervisors an agreement with Ida County to provide public-health services has been reviewed by both county attorneys and will go to the regional board of health before being scheduled on next week’s supervisors agenda for signature. "I will be taking it to the sen district board of health tomorrow for review and approval and then my plan is then to submit it as an agenda item for next week's board of supervisors meeting," Green said.
Drew Ber, described in the transcript as "camera services director," reported the county averaged about 588 calls during the first five months of the calendar year, noted newly authorized part-time EMTs completed orientation and will begin activity this week, and said one vehicle will be in warranty repair for roughly seven days.
A committee member discussed a city-led "homeless court" initiative that would emphasize compliance with program steps to address fines and recommended county attorney involvement before committing county resources. The same supervisor updated the board on recent storm aftermath work with local mayors, warning that erosion from burned farmland south of Luton is washing soil onto gravel roads and that crews are limited in what they can do while conditions remain wet.
These items were informational; the board did not take formal action on the health-agreement, EMS staffing report or storm-recovery status during the meeting. Staff were asked to follow up as needed and to place items on future agendas where formal action may be required.
Next steps: the public-health agreement will be reviewed by the regional board of health and then appear on the board's agenda; HR and operations staff will continue EMS onboarding and monitor vehicle repairs; roadwork remains contingent on weather and resource constraints.
