Jim reported the Sanders shelter project is expected to break ground shortly and the board discussed whether to reuse an original Sanders-family sign and salvaged benches or place them inside a shelter for preservation. Park staff noted that decisions about reinstalling the original sign are subject to park-board approval and the terms of prior agreements.
Board members also raised the possibility of exploring a sanitary sewer tie-in for shelter restrooms; speakers said the job could be queried with the contractor during the planned boring work as a cost-checking exercise but that county approval and more detailed casing/engineering information would be required before proceeding.
Next steps: commissioners will review the $30,000 request and the board will follow up on shelter sign availability and the final Sanders shelter plan once materials lists and bids are available.
