Council proclaims June 2026 as Pride Month; Snowquami Valley Pride thanks city

On June 2 the City Council adopted a proclamation recognizing June 2026 as Pride Month and encouraging residents to celebrate and support LGBTQ+ community members and organizations. Mayor Mary Miller read the proclamation, which praised diversity and inclusion and called on residents to mark the month.
Lori Oviet, a board director with Snowquami Valley Pride, accepted the proclamation on behalf of the organization and described upcoming valley events, including a free Pride picnic at Tolt Commons on June 7 and recurring community activities for 2026. Oviet said the group's vision is to create "spaces of belonging, celebration, and healing for 2SLGBTQ+ residents, allies, and visitors in the Snowquami Valley." The council took photos with Pride leaders and attendees before moving on to other agenda items.
