At the end of the Feb. 11 meeting, Director Liz reported that staff received 11 applications for four open planning commission seats and that staff has recommended candidates to the City Council for interview. She said many applicants expressed interest in transportation matters, an area the planning commission does not formally cover, and that she is coordinating with Public Works Director Rod Staitzer to explore creating a transportation commission or a similar public forum.
Liz said staff may start the transportation conversations slowly (perhaps quarterly) and will provide details as they develop. No formal decision on a transportation commission was made at the meeting.
