Stratmoor Hills water board schedules executive session, hears updates on treatment-plant work and funding

District Manager Darren Adame told the board the Water Treatment Plant has several outdated components that are beginning to fail and will be replaced as identified. "The Water Treatment Plant has several items that will be replaced since they are outdated and starting to fail," Adame said, describing the work as an action item for the board's information.
Adame reported the district will clean the ion exchange tanks this year and that the Air Force will provide funding for that work. He also said another round of funding related to PFAS will be awarded, though specific awards or amounts were not specified during the meeting.
On capital work, Adame outlined a two-phase recoating plan for the district's 2.5 million-gallon tank: Phase 1 will address the interior this year; Phase 2, the exterior, will await additional funding because the exterior coating contains lead-based paint.
Adame said the district submitted a grant application to the State Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) to upgrade the district's SCADA system with improved cybersecurity and new monitoring equipment.
Vice President John Willcox delivered the Safety Committee report, noting it has been 319 days since the most recent accident and 190 days since the most recent close call; the next safety meeting is scheduled for May 13, 2026.
The District Manager requested an executive session to review financials, the budget and staffing. The board approved holding an executive session on April 22, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. in the Stratmoor Hills Fire District conference room; the transcript does not record who moved or seconded that approval.
With no further business, Director Richard Dull moved to adjourn at 4:57 p.m.; the motion, seconded by Secretary/Treasurer Richard Bond, passed unanimously, 5-0.
