The Chili Town Board formally recognized Jackie Root at its Nov. 12 meeting for about 12 years of service as court clerk. Supervisor Dunning invited Root and Judge Ron Evangelista to the front of the meeting and presented a token of appreciation as colleagues applauded.
Judge Evangelista praised Root’s dedication and described her role in keeping court operations running smoothly: "Without her assistance, her knowledge of the job ... she makes it all seem run so smoothly," he said. The judge noted the clerk’s work with district attorneys, public defenders and private attorneys and wished her well in retirement.
Root told the board it had been a pleasure working for the town and accepted the recognition with thanks. The presentation closed with applause and light-hearted remarks among board members.
The transcript records the court recognition as part of the meeting’s ceremonial items; no formal action or vote accompanied the presentation.
