The Public Services Committee on June 1 recommended approval to the full City Council on several routine items, including updates to wastewater discharge limits, two zoning‑map changes and the city's adoption of the 2026 National Electrical Code.
Matt Belo of the Board of Public Utilities told the committee the EPA reported it received no public comments during the 30‑day notice period for the proposed changes to local wastewater discharge limits and will issue confirming correspondence; the committee voted to send the ordinance forward with one member recorded as opposed.
Planning staff reported two separate zoning map amendments — one near HR Ranch Road and Judy Lee Drive and one affecting Cheyenne Business Park parcels along I‑80 — and told the committee there were no outstanding public comments. The committee approved both as presented and forwarded recommendations to the council.
Anthony Parmlo, the city's chief building official, briefed members on the required adoption of the 2026 National Electrical Code; he said the state adopted the code effective Jan. 1, 2026, and that jurisdictions must adopt within 180 days. Parmlo said residential cost impacts are minimal while some commercial safety changes could affect costs; the committee voted to recommend adoption.
All items will be considered by the full City Council at a future meeting.
