Redevelopment commission approves Crow contract, clears TIFF reimbursements and small fire-department purchase

The Huntingburg City Redevelopment Commission approved three TIFF-related items in a brief meeting, including a professional-services contract and two spending motions.

Commissioners voted to approve a docket claim of $5,264.79 described as reimbursement to the general fund for TIFF expenditures made in May 2026. Staff told the commission individual claim forms are not signed; if the docket is approved, commissioners will sign a white summary sheet to document the action.

The commission then approved a contract engagement with accounting/consulting firm Crow for $6,825 to prepare the TIFF neutralization report required by recent changes to state reporting rules and to present the report to overlapping taxing districts in September. Staff said Baker Tilly did not respond this year and that Crow's quote was slightly lower than last year's estimate. A letter of engagement was in the meeting packet and staff said they would have Nick execute the agreement when he returns from St. Louis.

Commissioners also approved a request from the fire department to use remaining TIFF funds to buy smaller-diameter nozzles (described in the record as 2-inch and 1—2-inch nozzles) so crews can avoid using large-diameter hose on distant calls. Staff reported the TIFF spending plan had "about 66,700" remaining for the year; the motion record references the amount "6684" for the purchase request as voiced during the meeting. Angelica seconded that motion and the commission approved it by voice vote. The record does not include an itemized vote tally for any of the motions.

There was no public comment during the meeting. Commissioners set a tentative July meeting window (between July 7 and July 22) to address an OFS project/bond item that will require the commission's attention. The meeting was adjourned at about 5:06 p.m.
