Several board members urged seeking at least two additional proposals and exploring shared-service options with neighboring municipalities to verify hourly rates and qualifications.
Councilman Rifenberg offered a motion to authorize him to seek bids — including from Z3 and from neighboring towns or vendors that can supply certified inspectors — and to bring proposals back to the board. The motion carried on the public record; members also agreed to discuss additional legal and personnel details in executive session.
The board emphasized the need to protect residents from service gaps while ensuring competitive procurement and fiscal restraint. Staff were directed to collect scopes of work and pricing to present options at the next meeting.
