A presenter said the radios are city assets and that new digital radios would cost about $10,000; animal control would be responsible for programming and installing the radios in vehicles.
Council members moved and seconded a motion to hire the additional part‑time employee and to allow reallocation of radios; the board voted in favor on the record. The mayor expressed strong support for the measures and staff indicated the new hire will be added to the budget package for the June 29 vote.
