Huff also highlighted a volunteer effort at the Imperial site: more than 105 volunteers logged roughly 280 hours to move 24,000 bricks (about 121,000 pounds), clearing the way for sanitary sewer installation and initial site work. "Now that all the bricks have been moved, the work can begin to get some sanitary sewer lines put in place and connected to the container warehouse," she said.
On project procurement and interim activations, Huff said eight RFQ submissions are under review and interviews are underway; initial infrastructure work (sewer line) is beginning to support interim activations such as a mural and seating area and a planned char house groundbreaking around September. She also noted Town Square has secured $250,000 in event sponsorships and recorded roughly 230,000 visitors over its activation period, with a 150% increase in average daily visitors on activation days.
Huff closed with an update on Lakepoint: demolition finished in May and the project is moving into planning and initial site work this summer, with staff coordinating potential groundbreakings with the developer. She urged board members to share city promotions and follow Visit Sugar Land channels to amplify outreach.
