Tinicum adopts revised conservation-easement process; public comment window extended

Tinicum’s Board of Supervisors approved a revised conservation easement process on June 2 after presentation by Land Preservation Committee members. The updated document removes phrasing that the committee feared could discourage landowners (for example, language that could be read as encouraging donation), clarifies the stepwise application process, updates the evaluation worksheet and reorganizes procedural sections.
Committee members said the goal is to make initial outreach less intimidating to potential easement donors or sellers and to reserve detailed reimbursement and appraisal discussions for one-on-one conversations once applicants complete an application. Supervisors and committee members agreed to add language to make donations an available option in outreach materials while avoiding wording that could be misinterpreted as a requirement.
As part of the approval, the board amended the process to lengthen the public-comment notice in paragraphs 18 and 19 from two to four weeks to align with the township’s monthly meeting schedule. The motion carried.
