Commissioners approve Community Solutions contract, DAR courthouse use and schedule Trash Court for Kippenbrock property

At the May 18 meeting the Dubois County Commissioners approved several non-transportation items: a contract with Community Solutions not to exceed $20,000, courthouse use for a Daughters of the American Revolution America 250 event on July 8, and scheduling of Trash Court for a longstanding complaint at the Kippenbrock property.
Commissioner Chad A. Blessinger presented the Community Solutions contract, noting the organization has worked with the JRAC board to obtain grant funding and help maintain compliance. The board approved the contract for the remainder of the calendar year by unanimous vote and indicated a preference to continue working with the group.
The board also approved use of the courthouse steps on July 8 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. for a reading of the Declaration of Independence by the Daughters of the American Revolution and Dubois County 250, pending receipt of a completed Courthouse Use Agreement.
On a separate long-running code-enforcement matter (Case 2023-0720-P), the board scheduled the Kippenbrock property complaint for Trash Court on June 15, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. and ordered that a letter be sent to Kurt and Cynthia Kippenbrock requesting their appearance. Commissioner Blessinger also reminded the public about county Memorial Day events and said he would post them on the county Facebook page.
The board discussed changes to the Tourism Commission membership under HB 1210 and agreed to have Director Whitney Lubbers attend the next meeting so the board can amend Ordinance 97-7 after that discussion.
