Staff presented several picnic/table proposals that ranged from about $750 for metal designs seating eight to $1,250 for higher-quality models, plus larger shaded picnic-table options priced at $5,400–$7,700 and a shade-only option for about $2,700. Committee members prioritized durability and accessibility: movable tables and chairs allow wheelchair access by moving a seat, while classic picnic tables may require specialized accessible picnic-table designs.
“Those umbrellas take a beating pretty quick,” a trustee observed about shade devices. Joel and others recommended maintenance-free polywood or heavier powder-coated metal that stands up to public use; chamber representative Ashley said she would explore a business-sponsorship program that standardizes bench appearance and pricing, potentially with a 50% sponsor match.
Trustees also requested staff check existing pavilion dimensions and confirm bolt-down options, storage needs for winter, and heavier-duty choices used at other local parks. Staff will send comparative pricing and samples so trustees can decide on a standard procurement option.
Next steps: staff to collect heavier-duty product quotes, confirm dimensions/specs and return recommended options and cost comparisons; Ashley will pursue sponsorship interest among chamber businesses.
