Public commenters update council on SR 162 funding and raise utility and legal complaints

Sean Bunny, who said he has worked on government-relations projects for the Orting Valley, told the council the state transportation conference committee allocated $6.5 million for SR 162 in the next cycle. "It's a good step forward," he said, but he noted the region will likely need tens of millions more to complete the project.
James Breslin identified himself as an Orting resident and raised multiple grievances. He told council his water has been shut off at his home for more than four months and described medical and legal problems he says followed interactions with city and law-enforcement officials. He claimed the city failed to file judicial oaths for a judge and described personal injuries and arrests; he also accused a named sergeant of excessive force and alleged other misconduct. The mayor and clerk offered to have the city administrator follow up to get in touch with Breslin and review his concerns; the mayor asked administration to contact him after the meeting.
The mayor thanked both speakers and noted the city would follow up on Breslin's requests for contact and assistance.
