An Aviation Planning Group representative told council the work is intended to add resiliency to airport fuel services and lighting, and that much of the installation is expected to be FAA‑funded. "This is for a solar and battery backup generator to be primarily funded by the FAA," the presenter said, adding that the task order will kick off planning and design so the project can begin in the following year.
The council approved the task order in an amount not to exceed $45,744 and authorized the city manager to execute related documents. Council members noted the overall installation cost is estimated at about $183,000; the presenter said the installation approach seeks to avoid ground disturbance by keeping equipment above ground where possible.
