Planning commissioners press for water-infrastructure update and improved meeting records

After the zoning discussion the commission turned to administrative and policy follow-ups, requesting staff brief the commission on water infrastructure projects and pressing for better public access to minutes and agendas.

Commissioners asked that Derek Montani, the city’s public-works director, present the city’s water-infrastructure status and the recent tertiary-treatment feasibility study at a future meeting, noting that those reports tie directly to new development and long-term water planning. "There was a good presentation at a council meeting in March" that staff should bring to the commission, one member said; staff agreed to schedule Montani for a future meeting.

Commissioners also raised persistent delays in posting minutes and agenda materials online. The city clerk told the commission the clerk’s office is understaffed and that the city is preparing proposals for council to address records capacity. The clerk said the office would try to post draft minutes and more video links in the short term and welcomed the commission’s support for an additional staffing request to the council.
