Caln Township’s Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on April 24 to approve a Civil Service Commission eligibility list and to authorize the director of Building, Life & Safety to extend conditional offers to seven firefighter applicants.
Township staff said the Civil Service Commission completed a certification process on April 9 that followed physical agility testing, written exams, oral interviews and background checks. The board first approved the eligibility list as certified by the Civil Service Commission and then authorized offers for two full‑time candidates (Zachary Holmes and Jacob Labonte) and five part‑time candidates (Colin Finn, Jacob Bailey, Jonathan Hooko, Jeremy Sullivan and Dylan Kaine).
Manager and department staff said these hires will help the department maintain 24‑hour staffing coverage and cited the multi‑step hiring process used to form the eligibility list. The board approved both motions by voice vote, 5‑0. Staff said conditional offers are contingent on the standard pre‑employment steps (background checks and any required medical/physical clearances).
