Facilities director Mr. Shirley told the board summer maintenance is underway and that the department processed 144 work orders last month, completing 114. He said materials for the first phase of Fair View’s roofing (cafeteria and gym) and a replacement awning have been ordered and are expected to arrive around July 1; the roof work could take about a month and the awning up to two months depending on welding needs and weather.
Shirley said the district will reuse available materials from two previous incidents to rebuild central sections first so work can continue safely when students return. He also reported recent chiller repairs at Fair View and NJH, ongoing gym unit replacements at Martha (aging 30-year-old systems), and repair progress on magnet school gym sealing and floor-coating failures. Greenhouse work resumed after rain delays.
Board members asked targeted questions about bleacher seat replacements and timelines for specific gym repairs; staff said parts were pending for some gym boards and contractors would resume work as weather permitted.
