The agreements require additional training (a red‑card or equivalent qualification for wildland response) for volunteer firefighters who would respond to incidents beyond the town’s jurisdiction.
Council members said the agreements offer training benefits and potential reimbursement for mutual‑aid responses; one councilor noted the arrangement insulates the town from some incident costs if properly executed. Following a motion and second, council voted to approve the cooperative agreement and the wildfire‑resources MOU.
Staff will coordinate required training and documentation for firefighters who participate under these agreements.
