County highway engineer reports bridge reopenings, bridge 36 closure and June paving schedule

County highway staff delivered a multi-item report on local infrastructure projects and short-term operations.
Donnie Le (county highway department) asked residents to keep yard signs clear of roadways so mowing crews would not have to stop and risk damage to equipment. Le reported several incidents over Memorial Day weekend where vehicles became stuck on unpaved routes — a problem he attributed in part to GPS routing — and suggested temporary signage and ropes as an interim mitigation while the county explores longer-term fixes.
Levi Liard, county highway engineer, reported Bridge 78 on County Road 600 West is nearing completion, with final asphalt approaches, guardrail installation and pavement markings scheduled by the end of the week, subject to weather. Bridges 107 (St. Anthony Road North) and 240 (St. Anthony Road West) are finishing rigid deck overlays and will receive asphalt approaches once concrete curing allows.
Liard said small structure number 16 on New Boy Road has a temporary stone ramp to reopen local access while permanent approaches are scheduled. He also announced bridge 36 (Celestine Road North) will be closed on or after June 3 for a 5–6 week rehabilitation replacing the deck and beams; the bridge is posted at a 20-ton rating and is about 60 years old.
Chip-and-seal paving work is expected to start June 8; Liard said the county contractor awarded the paving contract will pave portions of St. Anthony Road North as they complete other work. The highway team also proposed using leftover paving funds to finish a 211-foot county segment of Gun Club Road while the contractor is onsite, with an estimated local share near $2,000 pending bids.
Commissioners agreed to proceed with routine paving and to monitor temporary signage and traffic-control needs during the nearby solar-project construction.
