Rutherford County adopts 25 mph limit for segment of Daddy Green Road

Rutherford County’s Public Works and Planning Committee voted June 2 to adopt a 25 miles‑per‑hour speed limit for the portion of Daddy Green Road that lies within Rutherford County after a recommendation from the sheriff’s office and the county road board.
Mary Hickerson, department coordinator for the County Highway Department, told commissioners the recommendation came after a sheriff’s deputy assessment and that the majority of the road lies in Coffee County, with only a narrow sliver inside Rutherford County. Commissioners moved and seconded the recommendation and approved the change by voice vote.
Hickerson said the road is narrow and residential, and that the county ordinarily defers to the sheriff's field speed assessments. The new posted limit applies only to the county’s jurisdiction of the road; residents in other counties remain under their county rules.
