Orting resident urges fixes to construction defects at Rainier Meadows and Charter Park

"Signs are not installed per spec, missing signs, missing ADA detectable warning mats ... striping not installed per spec, concrete wheel stops not properly installed, fire gate not installed correctly ..." Freeberry said, listing missing ADA ramps and other items, and describing stormwater and runoff that he said is entering the Mountain View retention pond. He asked how the engineering and inspection firms missed these items and whether there is adequate oversight: "Is it a case of the fox guarding the hen house? Who is checking on the inspection firm?" Freeberry said properties that will become city responsibility deserve to meet construction standards.
Mayor Scott Brennan and staff acknowledged the problems and offered a follow‑up. Staff asked whether Freeberry wanted to be contacted; he said yes and had checked the contact box. The mayor said staff were aware of some issues, would have someone follow up and would seek to resolve the items Freeberry raised.
The exchange was recorded as a public comment request for staff follow‑up; the council did not take formal action during the meeting but instructed staff to investigate the listed deficiencies and report back.
