Council reviews budget, venue discounts and readies Make Music Day outreach

At the start of the meeting, Aaron reported that the Worcester Arts Council is in good standing with its grant-cycle budget and that MCC-provided funds may be spent; he said the council has approximately $4,188.56 remaining for the current year and confirmed the fiscal year ends June 30.
Members discussed outstanding obligations tied to the grant reception (venue PO, food) and clarified that unspent MCC funds will roll over to the next year rather than being forfeited. The chair announced verbal or formal reduced-rate arrangements with several local venues — including the Worcester Art Museum, Mechanics Hall, the Museum of Worcester and the DCU Center — to lower rental costs for WAC-funded events and keep more dollars available for programming.
The chair also asked members to promote Make Music Day on June 21, noting an estimated 30 artists and about 10 venues participating, and invited members to volunteer for early-day shifts distributing printed schedules and answering questions.
A motion to approve the council's current budget position was moved, seconded and approved by voice/raised hands with no opposition noted.
