Public commenters urge civic positivity, ask for traffic-signal timing and fence repairs

Sasha Bone introduced a proposal modeled on a Columbus, Neb., program she described as a "positive social response team" to encourage supportive civic engagement and public comments that highlight the city’s strengths. She suggested a local name such as "Nova" or "Supernovas" and recounted local events and volunteer activity as examples of community assets.
A resident identified as Steve Seai asked whether the yellow signal at Riverside and Benjamin could be lengthened because he described the current timing as too short. City staff said they would take a look.
Other comments included requests to repair a damaged fence by Burger King on Benjamin Avenue that a resident said had gone unrepaired for about a year. The mayor and staff described steps taken on that case — engagement with operations staff, engineers and insurance — and said repair work and contractor engagement were underway.
Council thanked speakers and moved to the regular agenda.
