Knox County approves routine claims, payroll and highway tire-bid awards

During routine business the Knox County board approved claims presented by the auditor and approved payroll.
County staff opened bids for tractor and pickup tires after a rebid process. Two responsive bids were presented (including one from Knox County Tire). The highway engineer recommended awarding on the basis of price and availability so the county can purchase lower-priced tires when available and obtain alternatives when stock is limited.
A motion to accept the highway engineer's recommendation and award all responsive bids based on price and availability was seconded (by Commissioner Brink) and approved by the board. Commissioners said they would finalize awards based on pricing and availability and then proceed with purchases as inventory and deployment require.
With no further questions, the board scheduled its next business meeting for December 27 at 8 a.m. and adjourned at approximately 7:10 p.m.
