Jackson County finance staff report August revenues exceed expenditures; contingency balance noted

Miss Fox, participating via Zoom, presented the countys August financial highlights: general fund revenues year-to-date were $22,800,129 (21.55% of budget) and expenditures $17,573,220 (17.79%), leaving revenues $5,226,909 above expenditures at that point in the fiscal year. She summarized ad valorem and motor vehicle tax collections, accounts receivable collections, sales and use tax distributions and landfill disposal fee receipts, and attached a VA Health fourth-quarter finance report.
Miss Fox said the general fund contingency had appropriations of $1,882,022 with a balance at the end of August of $1,371,654 and offered to answer questions. Darlene Henson then read the tax collectors report for August: current taxes collected $14,573,485, delinquent taxes $52,475, and total collections for the month $15,521,551.83, with refunds and releases noted.
The board approved the consent agenda and moved on to new business; no significant changes to budget policy were adopted at this meeting.
