The Chehalis City Council accepted a $20,000 stage sponsorship from Giza Credit Union to support the city’s July 4 celebration at Stan Howell Park.
City staff (speaker 6) said Giza Credit Union offered a $20,000 stage sponsorship to underwrite performing artists, staging and lighting for the event and that the Parks and Recreation Department would provide recognition and promotional benefits to the sponsor. “The stage sponsorship of $20,000 will provide financial support for performing artists, staging, and lighting for the live music performance that will take place on 07/04/2026,” staff said.
Staff explained the funds will be tracked in a special project fund so incoming sponsorship dollars and event expenditures are not commingled with general funds. A council member asked whether unused funds would have to be returned; staff said the contract contains no return provision and they anticipate the funds will be used. Council member (speaker 4) moved to accept the sponsorship and authorize the city manager to execute related documents; speaker 2 seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff said additional sponsors are being sought to cover fireworks and other event costs and that Giza may also engage on‑site with giveaways and promotions on the day of the event.
