McLean County allocates nearly $1.4 million from mental health fund to local providers

Kelly Amigoni of the Behavioral Health Coordinating Committee summarized how McLean County has distributed money from its mental health and public safety fund, saying the county has allocated awards across three funding tracks and naming the organizations that received grants.
Amigoni said the general Notice of Funding Opportunity awarded Home Sweet Home Ministries $300,000 to expand shelter and behavioral health services and Lifelong Access $653,818 for renovation projects, plus an additional $210,582 for workforce development. Babyfold received $130,000 for intensive family in‑home supports, the Center for Youth and Family Solutions received $35,000 to implement counseling for people 55 and older, the McLean County Re‑entry Council received $48,670 to improve coordination for people transitioning back into the community, and the McLean County Center for Human Services received $170,445 to support permanent supportive housing.
On the emerging‑needs track, Amigoni said the county supported Youth Build, Breitpoint, Babyfold and the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington‑Normal during the first quarter; quarter‑two awards will be announced next week and the quarter‑three NOFO is scheduled for July. She also said the county has filled all 100 spots for an EMDR training this summer and is launching a comprehensive 988 awareness and marketing campaign for 2026.
Committee members asked whether many applicants were left unfunded; Amigoni said there were some agencies that did not receive awards but that they were not numerous and that further details would be provided when quarter‑two announcements are made. The committee did not take any formal votes on the funding report.
