Civil Service Commission to run Gallup-12 survey for staff, includes remote background investigators

Staff described a planned supplemental, anonymous culture-and-engagement survey using the Gallup 12 instrument, intended to supplement the city's existing survey and focus specifically on Civil Service Commission employees, including remote background investigators. Brandon said the tool was chosen for its established validity and comparability.
"All civil service employees are invited to participate in the engagement survey, which includes our full-time staff and our on-call remote background investigators," Brandon said, and staff noted the survey will not collect identifying information and will be open Nov. 17–30, with analysis in early December.
Commissioners discussed concerns that employees sometimes doubt survey anonymity; staff responded that the Gallup instrument and anonymized delivery should reduce that perception and that communication templates will include feedback links for candidates who leave the process voluntarily.
No formal action beyond the presentation was recorded; staff said they will publish results after analysis and consider changes to internal recognition and resource allocation based on findings.
