Committee recommends Gaianne Rosenzweig for Urban Design Board

The Infrastructure Planning and Sustainability Committee voted March 25 to recommend that Gaianne Rosenzweig be appointed to the Urban Design Board’s design-and-development professional position number 2 to fill an unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2027.
Steven Antiput, senior planner in Planning and Development Services, told the committee the Urban Design Board has completed its first full year of project review and that the board’s small roster creates a risk of interrupted work when vacancies or recusals occur. Staff had contacted finalists from the prior recruitment and recommended Rosenzweig as the candidate able to fill the current vacancy.
Chair Christina Walker opened the floor for comment and the committee moved and seconded the recommendation; members approved the motion by voice vote with no opposed votes recorded.
Why it matters: the Urban Design Board provides a public forum for design review and offers flexibility for design solutions not covered by the land-use code; filling vacancies helps the board maintain project-review capacity.
Next steps: the committee’s recommendation will be forwarded to the full City Council for final appointment and the board will continue its scheduled project reviews.
