La Conner council approves pump, asphalt and park contracts and several operational amendments

Most items were routine or had brief discussion. The council accepted the 6th Street pump control panel replacement project after staff described the work and its testing; the mayor announced, “Motion carried.” Council then approved Resolution 688, authorizing purchase of a pump assembly from Triangle Equipment Inc. after auditors flagged that a motion alone had not produced a formal resolution. The council voted in favor of the resolution.
Council awarded the asphalt-repair contract to Asphalt Northwest for a package of repairs that included a larger reconstruction at 3rd and Calhoun. Staff noted that reconstruction at Calhoun and Benton accounted for additional scope; square footage for a cited segment was cited as 3,375 square feet.
Council also approved procurement of a backflow-module add-on for the town’s asset-management software to better track annual testing and compliance of backflow devices, a purchase staff said will automate notifications and reporting. For Pioneer Park the council authorized an agreement to place EcoBlocks and a gated access to prevent dumping and long-term vehicle storage; staff said the town will post and notify owners of vehicles on site before removal.
The council approved an amendment to the vegetation-management contract with ProScapes amid questions about herbicide use and posting near playgrounds; staff and council members said the contractor and town will follow applicable certification and posting requirements. Finally, council granted a limited cabaret license to Firehole Kitchen & Tap House for summer live music (one night weekly, concluding by 8 p.m.), noting there were no related complaints last year.
Most motions were moved and seconded from the dais and approved by voice vote; the meeting record shows each motion carried. The council listed follow-up steps as needed (public notices, contractor scheduling) and closed the agenda item.
