CPAC District 1 interview: Dan Wolf presents; committee postpones appointment pending second applicant

Acting City Clerk Susan Hague opened interviews for the District 1 seat on the Community Police Advisory Committee (CPAC), describing a three-minute presentation format and the committee’s opportunity to ask follow-up questions. "After each presentation, you'll have the opportunity to ask additional questions," she said, and noted recommendations will be forwarded to the full City Council in February.
Dan Wolf, introduced by staff as the first applicant, used his three minutes to describe his public-safety background. "Communication is key," Wolf said, adding that he would review current processes to improve public information and faster distribution of updates. He told the committee he has 25 years in private security, 20 years volunteering in fire service and eight years working in education, and said those roles give him perspective on both citizen concerns and professional responders.
Committee members asked how Wolf handles conflict and how his security background would inform his CPAC role; Wolf said he listens, seeks to understand differing views and tries to form group-based solutions rather than letting one person decide.
The committee did not complete a selection because the second applicant was not present; members voted to postpone a recommendation until the other candidate can be interviewed so the committee can compare applicants. The clerk will notify applicants of the next steps and the committee’s recommendation will appear on the full council agenda in February if forwarded.
