Dr. Christopher Tranberg, Branford Superintendent, told the Board of Education on May 27 that the district will hold a 9:00 a.m. press event at Murphy School to celebrate an additional $30.4 million in state funding the district received with help from its local legislative delegation.
Why it matters: That funding, Tranberg said during his superintendent’s report, is a material infusion for district priorities and will be highlighted publicly at the event. He also reported that the Feasibility Study Working Group selected Antinozzi and Associates as the vendor for the district’s facilities feasibility work and that electric-bus yard construction is ahead of schedule with the first bus arriving that day.
Tranberg listed other district updates at the meeting: recognition of the Music Department by the NAMM Foundation; continued work on filling staff vacancies; attendance at the Connecticut Farm to School Initiative; and ongoing paraprofessional contract negotiations with mediation set for July. He said the district will host the press event at Murphy School the following morning to acknowledge the state funding and the legislators who advocated for it.
Next steps: The district plans the Murphy School event and will continue the feasibility study and transportation rollout work already underway. The board did not take formal action tied to the funding at the meeting; the announcement was provided as part of the superintendent’s report.
