Dicks said water and sewer grant projects continue: boring under the Salkehatchie wetland and work in the Litchfield area will begin next week, with asphalt removed and replaced in small sections in Litchfield as a precaution and residents notified in advance. Inspections are underway for repairs needed as part of the SSES project.
On the Food Court grant project, Dicks said permitting is in process and will require a tie‑in to Cemetery Street with South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) coordination and work with Dominion Energy to extend existing lighting at Fuller to the Food Court parking area.
Dicks also flagged a City Hall HVAC leak involving an older generation of refrigerant, noting the system is dated and may be more practical to replace than repair. He said tile replacement in the back lobby and elevator area is planned and that a meeting will be scheduled to discuss crosswalk repair proposals and the Capital Project Sales Tax.
The council was advised to register by Jan. 8 for Hometown Legislative Action Day (Jan. 20) and the Municipal Elected Officials Institute of Government (Jan. 21). No funding amounts or construction timelines beyond these items were specified in the minutes.
