The Benton County Community Health Board on June 2 approved a contract enabling public-health staff to recover funds tied to tobacco retail compliance checks.
"We complete around 10 checks in total," Jacqueline, a Benton County public-health representative, told the board as she described the department's annual retailer-check program and requested approval of a contract that would allow reimbursement for the work.
The board moved, seconded and approved the contract by voice vote. The item had been placed under the regular agenda at the request of public-health staff.
The contract is expected to reimburse the public-health team for performance of compliance checks that help enforce tobacco regulations and provide data back to the county program.
Next steps: public-health staff will finalize contract details and move forward with reimbursement collection under the approved agreement.
