Selectmen direct staff to draft plan on housing committee tax-abatement recommendations

Town Manager Marc Nelson presented recommendations from the Simsbury Housing Policy Advisory Committee on Jan. 12, describing suggested fee waivers and tax-abatement program guidelines intended to encourage development of town-owned property. Nelson said the proposals are conceptual and not tied to a specific parcel.
Nelson told the Board staff would prepare a draft implementing document and that First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis and Selectman Kevin Beal would review the draft and the town would then discuss strategy and next steps. No motion or formal vote was taken at the meeting.
Board members discussed implementation considerations and analysis needs but did not adopt policy at the session.
