Residents urge tree plantings at Potteiger Park; committee offered referrals

Residents at the Conservation and Preservation Committee meeting on Aug. 5 urged more tree plantings at Potteiger Park and sought clarity on water access for newly planted trees.
Sharran Novak discussed planting pine trees at Potteiger Park and asked about access to water for the trees. Supervisor Dave Lenker referred Novak and Edward Schell to Parks and Recreation for follow-up on water access. Clarence Bouchat suggested contacting the New Kingstown Vision committee regarding water access for the park.
Committee member Randy Duncan told the group he has a list of milkweed plants available for local planting projects.
These items were raised during the public-participation portion of the meeting; committee members did not make formal policy decisions at this time but indicated residents should coordinate with Parks and Recreation and the New Kingstown Vision committee for implementation details.
The committee will pursue scheduling a meeting with area residents on development-variance items separately; park plantings were not placed on the agenda for immediate action.
