CUSD trustee cites rising test scores and responds to concern over 'Poet X'

Zollinger said several district schools were named to a high-performance honor roll. During public comment a resident raised concerns about the book 'Poet X.' Zollinger said she had read the book herself, noted that some scenes were "not appropriate" for certain ages, but said she ultimately felt the book was appropriate and that the IRMC (instructional review committee) had previously approved it.
The minutes record the exchange as part of the trustee's report; no board action or change to district policy was recorded in the LRCC minutes.
