Red Hook Tree Commission approves minutes, reviews inventory plan and scheduling for removals

The Tree Preservation Commission handled routine administrative matters including approval of prior minutes, an inventory proposal, stipend paperwork and scheduling of tree removals.
Hop Michael moved to approve the corrected minutes from February 17, 2026; Doug Traudt seconded and the motion carried with all members in agreement. The commission recorded that six of seven members were present at the March 17 meeting, establishing a quorum.
Karen Cadorette proposed hosting the tree inventory as a downloadable dataset (treesredhook@gmail.com) and circulated sample information sheets. She demonstrated a small diameter tape (cost cited as $8.57 on Amazon) and suggested purchasing five for teams; the chairman agreed to order them.
The commission noted a missing second $500 stipend payment for 'Kim' pending an invoice; Secretary Linda Keeling gave an invoice to Karen Cadorette to resolve the payment. Chairman Cathy Michael reported receiving new Tree City USA signs, a flag and 20-year stickers and recommended placing the signs at Rt. 9 south and Rt. 199 west.
The minutes also recorded that St. John's Reformed Church Tree Committee authorized removal of two dying maples on Starbarrack Road, with the church covering removal costs and the Tree Commission planning replacement planting in the fall. Under New Business, the chairman said Codie Hay would arrange a time to schedule the Starbarrack Road removal work.
The commission set its next meeting for April 21, 2026 at 7 p.m. and adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
